LT. COL. FRANK T. KACZMAREK
U.S. ARMY (Ret.)

passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017 at age 99 at the Village at Rockville. He was an officer and combat engineer in the North African Campaign during WWII. After the war, he returned to the University of Nebraska and completed Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Subsequently, he worked as a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Army Materiel Command and was in the U.S. Army Reserves. passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017 at age 99 at the Village at Rockville. He was an officer and combat engineer in the North African Campaign during WWII. After the war, he returned to the University of Nebraska and completed Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Subsequently, he worked as a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Army Materiel Command and was in the U.S. Army Reserves. A 60-year resident of Old Town Alexandria, he was an avid golfer at the Woodlawn Country Club and won numerous golf trophies with the "Happy Hustlers" at WCC. He continued his golf passion when Woodlawn became Mt. Vernon Country Club. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, in Alexandria, Virginia. The "Colonel", as he was called ,was preceded in death by his wife, Corrie Windham McGrath from Sheffield, Alabama. He was the much beloved father of Dr. Joann Carpenter (Dr. Andrew Butrica). He will be greatly missed by his 97 year old brother, Edward Kaczmarek, of Omaha, Nebraska; 23 nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.

Funeral arrangements are being planned for a future date at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel with interment at Arlington National Cemetery. Full funeral details and obituary will be published at a later date.
