Louis J. Oliver of Alexandria, VA passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the age of 79. He experienced a fatal heart attack, while driving home after a vacation in Florida.

Lou is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rosemary Stewart and their son Grant, who is a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He is survived by his four children from his first marriage: Kim Oliver from Charles Town, West Virginia, Brett Oliver from Caledonia, Wisconsin, Jodi Oliver Spahn from Baltimore, MD and Debbie Oliver from Dunkirk, MD and three...

Louis J. Oliver of Alexandria, VA passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the age of 79. He experienced a fatal heart attack, while driving home after a vacation in Florida.

Lou is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rosemary Stewart and their son Grant, who is a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He is survived by his four children from his first marriage: Kim Oliver from Charles Town, West Virginia, Brett Oliver from Caledonia, Wisconsin, Jodi Oliver Spahn from Baltimore, MD and Debbie Oliver from Dunkirk, MD and three grandchildren: Emily Eckenrode, Abigail Oliver Budsock and Jack Oliver.

Lou was born and grew up in Clifton, New Jersey. He served in the Air Force in the early 1950's and then obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Miami while working in Florida. Lou worked for nearly 25 years for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, beginning as an S&L examiner in Florida and concluding his tenure as a supervisor at the FHLBB's headquarters office in Washington, DC. He met and married Rosemary while they were both employed at the FHLBB and retired early to take care of their son Grant when he was born.

Lou was an avid golfer his entire life and also enjoyed boating on the Occoquan and Potomac Rivers, new cars, tractors, computers and horse racing. His favorite activities in recent years included his weekends away with Rosemary and his favorite cousins Pete and Barbara Ross from Whiting, New Jersey.

Friends may call at the Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 where the family will be present on Saturday, March 24th from 10:30-12:30 and where funeral services will be at 12:30pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA
